A year later in 2006, Kopimism began to garner recognition as a political entity in the arena of anti-copyright activism, especially with the formation of the Sweden Pirate Party ? a political party geared around the legislative intent of copyright and patent reform, and bankrolled many pro-internet groups. This party now exists in 40 countries, and even has two seats in the European parliament.
Five years after his development of the Kopimi logo, Botani died, and the Piratbyrån organization agreed to dissolve ? though a thriving community built around the Pirate Bay website, and the Swedish Pirate Party, still exists and still espouses the kopimist ideology.
